After being passed down to various members of the Crerar family, the house and land was owned by the McKennas (owners of the famous Pictou Twist Tobacco Company of Pictou,) Henry MacDonald, William Clarke, Byron Clarke, Charles Homes, Foord Construction Company of Stellarton, William Sinclair, Merle Pratt and Paul Calvie familes. It served as the Glenalmond Tour Home and William Clarke farm (40 years, and later Tyrol Inn and Lobster Pot Restaurant. 

    The original stone house was torn down in 1968 when the restoration attempt was not possible, the current owners then bought the property in May 1993. Picture perfect property now has 54 acres fully landscaped and makes a magnificent entry into the historic Pictou town.

    The grounds are meticulously cared for, and the lawns were created by using a “rock picker” to create rock free top soil.  The ponds are 20-30 feet deep, and have geotech cloth at the base to keep them clean of weeds growing up through them.  The grounds have an untouched wooded area with deer, rabbits, pheasants, raccoons, etc.

    The driveway is lined with 196-year-old Linden trees on both sides, and is BEAUTIFUL!  All the driveways have a base of 18 inches of rock and gravel, so never issues with mud.  All patios have 12 inches of gravel under them with no issues after 22 years.There are 2300 feet of free-standing rock walls with no issues!  The wiring for lights on property including wall lights and to the garage and to the house are all under ground and the house and garage are connected underground too!

    All driveways and patios and rock walls are in a curved design no straight lines!.  Turn circle behind house by garage is surrounded by rock wall with commercial grade aluminum 35 foot flag pole with lights at the base shining up the pole! It holds a 6x12 foot flag!

    There are a dozen or more cherry and crab apple trees, also maple trees in red and green on the property! Also, a lot of colorful shrubbery all in different colors for each season!  There are two water foundations! One is located at front of the house in the turn circle and the other is on the other side of house it is encased with a rock deck around it! Both are surrounded by stone walls! All fountains are equipped with lights!  On the roof there are two weather vanes in brass on house and one on garage.
